Le Faire Festival
The major Toulouse gathering to reinvent the way we produce, consume, and share!
Faire Festival invites all citizens, craftspeople, creatives, associations, fablabs, workshops and collectives to imagine and share their know-how. Our goal? To highlight all the ways of documenting: guides, videos, step-by-step tutorials, knowledge-sharing workshops, open protocols... in short, everything that allows learning by doing!
Le Faire Festival is the big gathering of maker spaces and makers in France! On 28, 29 and 30 May, we transform La Cité in Toulouse, the city's innovation hub, into a huge meeting space with a giant programme (workshops, conferences, meetups, evening events...). The motto? Learn, create, repair and above all, share. This year, we are also putting the spotlight on 'tutorials' and documentation: because making is great, but passing on how to make is even better! Le Faire Festival is a civic, independent and unique event, driven by a community of makers, craftspeople, volunteers and curious minds who share the desire to build, transmit and experiment together to help change the way we produce and consume.
*We intentionally use certain English words such as "maker", "FabLab" or "workshop", as they are part of the international culture of shared making. The word "maker" refers to a person who makes things by themselves, with others, in a spirit of sharing, experimentation and collective learning.
You can build your own programme by choosing from our 22 themes (textile, repair, wood, earth...). In the programme for the general public:
- → Take part in dozens of hands-on workshops to learn a new skill, use hand tools or digital machines (3D printers, laser cutters…).
- → Attend our must-see highlights such as the robot race, our engaged fashion shows, and browse our various makers' markets.
- → Meet artisans, makers, inventors, listen to fascinating talks and discover concrete solutions to make our world more sustainable and supportive.
Le Faire Festival is the result of a genuine collective dynamic.
To ensure its local roots, the event is designed and conceived in close collaboration with RoseLab and dozens of people in Toulouse, more than 110 makerspaces across France, at regional level with Rosêe, the tiers-lieux network of Occitanie, and nationally with France Tiers-Lieux, ANTL and RFFLabs. It is the strength of this cooperation that brings the festival to life.
The heart of the festival beats at La Cité (55 avenue Louis Breguet, 31400 Toulouse), an iconic venue dedicated to collaborative innovation in Occitanie.
The festival also extends beyond its walls during our festive evenings in iconic venues across the city, such as this year with Les Imbriqués or the festival closing at a landmark of the Toulouse cultural scene, the Musée des Abattoirs.
